Brief Bio

I am pursuing my Ph.D. at the Polar Climate Modelling Lab, which is one of the few groups in India that conducts research in the Polar region at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IITKGP). My research interests incline towards meteorology of Arctic and Himalayas briefly like the impacts of Atmospheric circulations on arctic sea ice and vice versa, Arctic polar vortex, Himalayan climate change and its projections. I like to go for trekking for the expedition work on himalayas and Im also a professional swimmer.

Recently, I had an opportunity to present my masters work at the Arctic Science Summit Week 2023 in person, which took place at the University of Vienna, Austria. At the conference, I got engaged in fruitful conversations with many people viz., scientists, policy makers, stakeholders. The conference also introduced me to APECS (Association of Polar Early Career Scientists), and since then I have become a member. I have also engaged in organising events like conferences, and also a reviewer. I’m also an active IGS member (International glaciological societty).

Why are you interested in taking the IPRN Ex-Com Member role?

I have been part of the organising team of the many conferences and workshops that held during my bachelors to masters, the recent one that I took responsibility is the International conference BDCC 2023 that held at IIT kharagpur. I feel the most important qualities that a leader should have is listening to everyones opinion on any matter and need to take action that is more efficient and beneficial. So with this experience I want to explore myself and go beyond my limits in taking the role of Ex-Com at IPRN and justifying the role with my knowledge and experience and contributing my active presence while engaging with my colleagues on the council. I feel an opportunity given where actions speaks more than words would prove the worth of a leader.
