I have completed my post-graduation in Applied Geology from M.G.C.G.V. Chitrakoot, Satna Madhya Pradesh. I am From Village Nardaha Dist Panna Madhya Pradesh.
Research Interests:  I am well-versed in knowledge in Earth Science & Geo Science, Groundwater prospect zone mapping, groundwater modeling and hydrogeology research, Glaciology, Remote Sensing GIS & Geology.
Experience: My Research experience is 6+ years in Geo-Science. I am Presently Working with the Shivalik Silica Mines office in Jaipur, Rajasthan, INDIA as a GIS Expert from November 2021 to date.
He is currently a Life Member of Indian Society of Remote Sensing [IIRS_L-4681], Indian Society of Geomatics [ISG], Indian Polar Research Network [IPRN], APECS India, and Vigyan Bharti Life Membership.

Brief biography

I pursuing Ph.D. in Geography from University of Kashmir, Srinagar. My primary area of research is Climate and Cryosphere studies. Besides that, I work on the  application of Geospatial techniques in Geo- environmental studies especially understanding the glaciers, glacial lakes, snow cover,  natural hazards and disasters. I also utilize different spatial and mathematical modelling techniques in Hydrological, glaciological, geomorphological studies.

I have served as a member of Climate and cryosphere research group, University of Kashmir.

Why are you interested in taking the IPRN Ex-Com Member role and what do you think are the most important qualities of a leader, and how will you use these

Being a researcher in the field of cryospheric science with 4 years of research experience, I can best serve the organization in many aspects like webinars, conferences, workshops and training programmes etc,

I am interested to be a member because I get to interact with people those who work in same domain. I feel a good leader who inspire and motivate others in the group through their experience and vision.

I have very calm head between my shoulders
I can very much handle any tough situation and I have done a lot of trekking and other extreme activites ,sometimes i have had near death experiences so I think I can help others during a crisis .

Priyanka Vadrevu

Brief biography

I am an environmentalist by qualification, specialized in Hydro-glacial studies. My major areas of interest converge in Glaciology, Climate Change and IWRM Practices. I joined IPRN as an Executive Committee member in the year 2020 and served as vice-president in 2020-21 term and consecutively as President in the 2021-22 term. I have lead and guided on various projects here. Apart from my involvement at IPRN, I am also part of the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) International since 2019. At APECS, I have served as a Project Group Lead (PGL) (2019-20) and also as a Council Chair for two continuous terms (2020-22). I am also elected as the National Committee Coordinator (NCC) for the upcoming term (2022 -23) here. I had experience of participating in the Himalayan expeditions which are the most memorable part in the course of my career till now. I have pursued various training programs on Hydro-Glacial Studies, Climate Change and Remote Sensing of polar regions (including Himalayas) from most of the eminent institutes nationally, as well as internationally, both; these helps me in keeping up with the trending technical skills. I have been entitlement as a ‘Certified Glaciology Expert’ from Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment (IIEE). I am excited and passionate to continue further at IPRN in this term with my fellow ECRs to lead the IPRN once again and stretch its horizon further this term as well.

Past experience in IPRN or APECS International or any other polar related organization:

At IPRN: I have been the Vice-president and President at the Indian Polar Research Network (IPRN) i.e., APECS-India during 2020-21 and 2021 -22 term respectively. Since the previous term, I have been involved with reviving the IPRN again after 2016 and contributed in various decision-making activities along with framing new guide documents, new logo, resuming the biannual magazine ‘Polar Bytes’ and new project groups among many other events & day-to-day tasks.

At APECS: As an individual council member, project group member for ECS group review IPCC SOD WG-I & FOD WG-II along with being a PGL for APECS Workshop at SCAR 2020 (term 2019-20), as a council co-chair (term 2020-21 & term 2021-22) and also as a co-author for ‘Fieldwork Communication and Navigation Guide Book’, published under the INTERACT project, Denmark.

Others: I had a decent amount of experience under various leadership roles during my college and school days as well. So, it’s no wrong in saying that I am a ‘born leader’ therefore, I always enjoy such leadership roles which gives me opportunities to grow together with my fellows!!

Why are you interested in taking the IPRN Ex-Com Member role and what do you think are the most important qualities of a leader, and how will you use these
qualities to motivate your colleagues on the Council?

I like the way in which contributing at IPRN leadership gave me the confidence and vigor to move ahead with variety of result-oriented tasks. Throughout my association with IPRN, I have invested in my collective skills and contributed towards the growth of IPRN. This is something that I am looking forward to continue further as we’ve grown quite stably since its revival. I am truly thrilled to be a part of the IPRN family in the leadership role (as an ExCom) once again.

I think that - Responsibility, Availability, Confidence and Ease of Communication are the major qualities of a motivating leader. I would like to use these to make the IPRN council members and associated external members trust on us with their time and involvement at IPRN.

Brief biography

Myself Narukula Rajendra completed Master in Geology at Andhra University during 2019-2022. Right now preparing for the CSIR NET examination and appearing for the upcoming one. I am very fond of research and wanted to pursue a research career in the ocean or atmospheric sciences and acquire much knowledge about these dynamic systems are interacting with one another and impact the life on earth.

Because I want to have a healthy research career so that to reach scientist position. In my opinion leader is the one who continuously acquire true knowledge and guide others towards destination while reaching his goal. I think I should do the same thing to give atleast scientific contribution to this great nation.

Brief biography

I am Rajeev, currently a pursuing my doctoral research at Sikkim University in glacial geomorphology and hazards. Currently, I serve as an ExCom member of IPRN and am also a part of the editorial team at Polar Bytes PG. I am also a co-lead at Alpine Cryosphere PG at APECS.  Along with research I am very passionate about science communication specially for the Himalayas. I also believe in equity, diversity and inclusivity in all form and structures. When not Infront of my computer looking at glacial landscapes I can be found looking at them in my field expeditions. I am avid trekker and love reading up on culture, ethnographies and science.

I have been a IPRN and APECS member since 2018. At IPRN I served as a council member in 2020-21 and currently I am an ExCom member. I have also been part of the editorial team at Polar Bytes for since 2020. At APECS, I currently serve as a co-lead for the Alpine Cryosphere Project Group. I am also a part of the Polar Impact group and one among the first cohort of mentees for the Polar Impact Mentor Initiative.

Why are you interested in taking the IPRN Ex-Com Member role and what do you think are the most important qualities of a leader, and how will you use these
qualities to motivate your colleagues on the Council?

I feel passion for the cryosphere is the most important thing that drives me to be a part of IPRN and it is the same passion that motivates me to be a part of the ExCom also. From my experience serving at APECS and at IPRN I feel the most important quality for anyone leading should be management and organizational skills. With members across different fields and expertise and many a times from different time zones, all collaborating in a online environment I feel it is the utmost important task for the leadership to utilize the full potential. IPRN in the last years has been revived well and the platform is set to raise the level and I think I can be a useful clog in the machine for doing it.

Warm greetings. Currently I am a research student in Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. I have completed my post graduation from Aligarh Muslim University in the field of Applied Geology. My research interest lies in the field of geomorphology and terrane analysis with study of paleo geomorphological investigation, including sedimentology and study of loose sediments for the prospecting of aquifers in elevated area of extra peninsula.

Brief biography

I am a PhD student in Antarctic Paleoclimatology working at National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research, Goa. My research interests are broadly in the areas of visual stratigraphy and glaciochemistry of Ice Cores. My research work focuses on analysing the optical and chemical properties of ice cores from coastal Dronning Maud Land and using this data to establish the paleoclimate of the region. Prior to this, I received a MSc in Applied Geology (2017) and BSc in Physics and Geology (2015) from University of Allahabad (India) where I studied the climate and sedimentation pattern in the Northwest Arabian Sea during the last two glacial cycles

Past experience in IPRN or APECS International or any other polar-related organization:

Yes. I have been associated with the IPRN ExCom of the term2020-21, where I also served as the President of IPRN. In the previous term of 2021-22, I served as the Ex-officio member of the IPRN ExCom, helping the new leadership adapt to the responsibilities of running IPRN to the fullest potential. I have also been associated with APECS International, the parent body of IPRN, as a Council member for the between 2018 to 2021. 

Why are you interested in taking the IPRN Ex-Com Member role and what do you think are the most important qualities of a leader, and how will you use these
qualities to motivate your colleagues on the Council?

 With my past experience in leading, I feel I would be able to take IPRN to greater heights and since I have had past association of IPRN, I am very well familiar with all it functioning. Accoring to me, the most important quality of a leader are being Responsible, Adaptive and Available to the members of the community. I intent to use these qualities to elevate the public picture of IPRN for the Indian polar community.

At present, working as a ‘Scientist’ in the G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment (Almora, Uttarakhand). Experienced researcher and glaciologist having more than 10 years of experience in research and teaching. I am interested in Cryospheric, Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, Himalayan Glaciers Dynamics Study and Water Resource Fluctuations, Climate Change and its impact on Environment, Space-based Cryosphere Monitoring and Modelling. PhD in Physics/Glaciology (WIHG and Kumaun University, Uttarakhand) and Post doctorate in Glacio-Hydrological Modelling (IIT Roorkee). Carried out various Glaciological Field Expeditions in the high altitude glacierized terrain of the Central and Western parts of the Indian Himalaya and also to some of the glaciers of the Oetztal Alps and Hintereisferner Glacier (Austria). Attended various professional training programs, workshops/seminars and lecture series related to the glaciology and operation and handling of glaciological field equipment. Recipient of DST and MHRD Fellowships, and DST ITS Grant.

Debangshu Banerjee is currently enrolled as a Ph.D. graduate research fellow at the University of Manitoba. He holds two masters degrees from the Indian Institute of remote Sensing, ISRO and JNU, New Delhi respectively. His core research interest lies over the applications of remote sensing, geospatial technologies and numerical modelling of the polar cryospheric elements primarily focussing over applications of Polarimetric (PolSAR) and Interferometric (InSAR) SAR, Sea-ice dynamics, Ice-shelf stability, and Ice-Ocean Interactions. He also has past experiences of investigating the transitional dynamics of arctic glaciers in Svalbard, and utilizing remote sensing of snowfall for the improvement of weather prediction & forecasting over the North-West Himalayan Region. Before joining UMan, he was a research scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and also served as a committee member of IPRN for 2021-22.

I am research engineer at CNRS Geoazur, working on a ESA project. My doctoral research focused on characterizing mass changes in Antarctica in response to climate changes from space-based gravimetry and altimetry. Before my doctoral training, I did a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Geoinformatics from the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Valiyamala. My research interests include earth observation, remote sensing, climate change, glaciology, etc.

My research focuses on Maritime Security Framework and challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. My research interests include how Defence, Security and Politics affect the oceans and regions encircling them. I received bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Defence and Strategic Studies from H.N.B. Garhwal Central University in 2012 and Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Defence and Strategic Studies from University of Madras in 2014. Post Master’s, I worked in Plan International-SBMA as a documentation officer in the interiors of Garhwal Himalayas till joining the Ph.D. in November 2017.

Hello! My name is Sandip Tanu Mandal and I am a doctoral scholar in Glacial Geomorphology at the Centre for the Study of Regional Development, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. I am interested in glaciology, earth surface processes, and the climate of mountainous environments. My research is dedicated to understanding the paleo-environment in the glaciated regions of the Himalayas using geomorphological and geochronological techniques (e.g., 10Be, 26Al dating, Optical dating). Fieldwork in the higher Himalayas consists a significant part of my research.

This is Smriti Srivastava, an avid learner, holding a PhD degree in Water Resource Engineering from IIT Indore and Integrated master degree in Geoinformatics Engineering from the Central University of Jharkhand, India.  From my undergraduate days, I have been fascinated by glaciers. Thus, to explore my compatibility with glaciology, I carried out numerous research internships at prestigious Indian institutes such as IISc, SAC-ISRO and WIHG, focusing on the application of Remote Sensing and GIS over Himalayan glaciers. Gradually, glaciology became my principal research interest. My PhD thesis was focused on investigating the Glacio-hydrological characteristics in two contrasting watersheds in the Indian Himalaya using glacier mass, energy, and hydrological modelling. My major research interests include Glaciology, Hydrology, Remote Sensing, GIS and Climate Change. Currently, I am working as Research Associate at IIT Indore.

I am a doctoral fellow with the Norwegian Polar Institute, Tromsø, having my PhD registered at the Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo, Norway. My research interests are aligned towards applications of remote sensing in glaciology. I specialize in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and am exploring altimetry products for the evolution of glacial systems. My current project deals with studying changing features along the ice-shelves of Antarctica, specifically in the Dronning Maud Land, using modern satellite technologies, viz. Optical, Microwave RS and Altimetry. In the past, I have worked with different Himalayan glaciers trying to understand their intra-regional micro-evolution relative to the rapidly changing climate conditions. In my free time, I enjoy hiking in the woods or cooking some Indian delicacies, or even lazing on my couch especially on bad-weather days!

Hello, I'm Bhargvi and I recently completed my master degree M.Sc geology, from Mohanlal Sukhadiya University,Udaipur and having completed my graduation (B.Sc geology) from Banasthali Vidyapeeth, Rajasthan. Since a long time, I have my research interests in Climate studies, Cryospheric and the application of Remote sensing and GIS studies. I'd would be so great to continue my journey ahead in this.
Apart from Academics, traveling and exploring the new places, culture and diving into nature is my escape, along with writing, photography, singing with my guitar and always carrying a book by myself are my leisure.

I have recently completed my post graduation in Geology from Government Doon University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, INDIA. I have done my Master's thesis from Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun in which I have worked on "ELA Variation in Northwestern and Central Himalayas during MIS-3 and MIS-2". I did my summer internship at Csir-Neist in which I worked in computational seismology. I am currently doing research on subduction zone Earthquakes and Volcanic Eruptions with a scholar from the Russian Academy of Sciences.
My research interests involves cryo-seismology, paleoclimatology, glaciers and their related hazards such as glacial outburst floods, avalanches, change in morphology of glaciers as well as equilibrium line altitude variation in alpine glades and their climatic correlations.

Greetings! Currently I am working as a project fellow at Delhi University in a project funded by Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change (Implemented by National Mission on Himalayan Studies). I received my bachelors  (B.Sc. Geo) in Geology, Zoology and Chemistry from Banasthali Vidyapith in 2018. Also I received my master (M.Sc.) in Geology in 2020 from same university. I had worked on my dissertation in structure and tectonics at Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology. To  enhance my sphere of knowledge and learn more I am pursuing masters (M.Sc.) in environmental science from IGNOU which would be completed by 2023. I am highly interested in pursuing research opportunities in geology, climate change and hydrology. I would love to explore regarding the integrated researches of geology and oceanography and the effects of various geologic phenomenon on the oceanographic systems of earth. I have few research articles under review and in process as well. I am really keen to learn new things, work with diverse group of people and make a career in the mentioned domains.

I have completed my M.Sc. in applied geology and I am GATE 2022 qualified, I was selected for Ph.D. in IIT(ISM)Dhanbad but didn't join due to some technical issues.

I have previously worked on the identification of Submarine Groundwater Discharge and Seawater Intrusion zones using Groundwater Flow Modelling. I am interested in glacial hydrology and wish to work on it.
Besides this, I like singing, cooking and writing poetry. I also have a Visharad degree in Bharatnatyam.

I am a doctoral fellow with the National Center of Polar and Oceanic research having my PhD registered at the Department Of Marine Science, Goa. My research interests are aligned towards Glacio-chemistry. My current project(MADICE) deals with Glaciochemistry of Snow & Ice cores of Antarctica, specifically in the Dronning Maud Land. In the past, I have worked with Various Institutes where I used to taught Earth, Ocean, Atmosphere & Planetary Sciences . In my free time, I am usually hiking, trekking, cooking & drawing.
